On the occasion of 100th Anniversary of the Sarıkamış Martrys Memorial Programme organized by the Governorship of Kars and Ministry of Youth and Sports, BELS students and teachers attended a commemoration ceremony on Sunday, 4th January 2015, in Sarıkamış, Kars. BELS students and teachers paid tribute to the 60.000 nameless heroes who became martyrs in the freezing cold weather during the Sarıkamış Battle between the Ottoman Empire and Russia (22 December 1914- 15 January 1915) one hundred years ago. 40.000 people ranging the ages of 7-70 from all over Turkey marched 8.5 km in -10 degrees for this memorial programme called “Turkey walks with its Martyrs” to gain more awareness and sensitivity.
