BELS student Oznur Hanci achieved a silver medal in the World Philosophy Olympics, held in Estonia from May 15 – 17. BELS graduating student Oznur Hanci beat off competition from 83 other young international Philosphers to win a silver medal at The World Philosophy Olympiad. Oznur was selected to represent Turkey after a series of firstly regional and then national qualifiers. As one of only two Philosophy students selected to represent her country she travelled to Estonia and completed a series of complex Philosophy challenges, along with 84 other entrants from 36 countries. After achieving a wonderful silver medal Oznur claimed that her time in Estonia, representing her country represented the best experience of her life. ‘Estonia is a beautiful country and I met so many other wonderful competitors’ claimed the teenager.
BELS teacher, Ms Sarah Clarkson Spoors who visited Estonia with Oznur had the following to say about her young charge: ‘Oznur is a very confident and capable young lady who fully embraced the challenge that the Olympiad provided. She represented both the school and her country with distinction. It was an honour to be part of her wonderful achievement’.
